The Long Dark: Wintermute

IF YOU OWN "THE LONG DARK", YOU ALREADY OWN THE WINTERMUTE DLC AND THERE IS NO NEED TO REPURCHASE THIS CONTENT. THIS DLC IS FOR THOSE WHO PURCHASED "THE LONG DARK: SURVIVAL EDITION", AND NOW WANT TO ADD THE WINTERMUTE STORY MODE.

After a mysterious flash of light in the night sky, bush pilot Will Mackenzie and his passenger Dr. Astrid Greenwood crash in the brutal wilderness of Northern Canada. Separated at the crash site, the two struggle to make their way to remote Perseverance Mills, a mountain community plagued by a mysterious illness. The majestic aurora flashes across the night sky, everything electronic seems to have been neutralized, and the wolves are howling as the frigid winter threatens the survivors of remote Great Bear Island.

Will you survive long enough to find each other in Perseverance Mills? And what mysteries will you uncover along the way? Because that is no ordinary light in the sky, and this is no ordinary winter. And the answers you find along the way might very well define the future far beyond the rocky shores of Great Bear Island’s vast frontier.

WINTERMUTE is the five-episode narrative mode for The Long Dark. The episodic story builds on the award-winning survival sandbox gameplay that has put The Long Dark on the top of many "best of" lists since the game's launch in 2014, adding a thoughtful narrative experience that explores the history and current mysteries of Great Bear Island, as survivors there comes to terms with the "Quiet Apocalypse". WINTERMUTE tells the story of bush pilot Will Mackenzie and Dr. Astrid Greenwood as they race to save a remote community from the ravages of this deadly wilderness in a world where all electronics have gone dark, possibly for good.

Each WINTERMUTE episode features between 5-8+ hours of story-driven survival gameplay, ~60 minutes of cinematics, a custom soundtrack, and achievements (platform allowing).

Features voice performances by award-winning actors Jennifer Hale, Mark Meer, David Hayter, Elias Toufexis, and others, and a haunting soundtrack by composer Cris Velasco.

The episodic story-mode for THE LONG DARK, WINTERMUTE, includes four of the five episodes that form WINTERMUTE, and represent approximately 30 hours of gameplay. Episode Five is included in the price of the game, and will be unlocked for free when it is released.
